
Professor ALEXANDRA SAVOVA, PhD
Prof. Savova graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Medical University of Sofia, where she obtained a Master’s degree in Pharmacy. In 2007, she obtained a PhD degree. She completed postgraduate specializations in Organization and Economics of Pharmaceutical Production and Organization and Economics of Pharmacy and Distribution Practice.
In January 2010, she was appointed Chief Assistant Professor at the Department of Organization and Economics of Pharmacy at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Medical University of Sofia, where she subsequently held the academic positions of Associate Professor in 2013 and Professor in 2018.
Prof. Savova has authored and co-authored a considerable number of scientific publications and has received numerous citations. She has participated in a wide range of scientific events and is the author and co-author of textbooks and manuals. She has also been actively involved in national and international scientific projects.
Her scientific interests focus on pharmaceutical legislation, pharmacoeconomics, pricing and reimbursement of medicinal products, and health technology assessment. In addition to her academic work, she has gained practical experience in pharmaceutical regulation, pricing and reimbursement of medicinal products, as well as health technology assessment.
From March 2013 to June 2026, she served as an elected member of the National Council on Prices and Reimbursement of Medicinal Products (NCPRMP). As a Bulgarian representative of the NCPRMP, she participated in the Coordination Group for Health Technology Assessment (HTA) at the European level, including activities related to Joint Clinical Assessment, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2021/2282 of the European Parliament and of the Council on Health Technology Assessment.
She is a member of the Bulgarian Scientific Society of Pharmacy (BSP) and the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR).
